East Tawas Housing Commission
Bay Park Towers
Bay Park Towers consists of two buildings, Bay Park Tower
South and Bay Park Tower North, offering a total of 85 independent living
units. Bay Park Tower South includes 41 units, primarily one-bedroom apartments
with one two-bedroom unit, while Bay Park Tower North includes 44 one-bedroom
units designated for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Each apartment in both buildings includes a bedroom,
bathroom, living room, and a fully equipped kitchen with a pantry. Most units
also feature private balconies; however, first-floor units do not have
balconies but offer slightly larger square footage.
Both buildings are designed with resident convenience in
mind. Trash chute rooms are available on each floor or throughout designated
levels. Laundry facilities are located on the first floor of each building and
include three coin-operated washers and three coin-operated dryers.
Residents have access to shared community spaces that
include large community rooms with full kitchens, which may be reserved for
family gatherings, events, or monthly potlucks. Additional amenities include a
library, areas for television viewing, and access to computers and internet.
The main management office is located on the first floor of Bay Park Tower
South (304 W. Bay Street).
Both buildings feature circular driveways for convenient
pick-up and drop-off, and parking is available near the buildings for residents
who drive. For those who do not drive, the Tawas area offers a local transit
system that provides pick-up directly in front of the building and
transportation to local destinations for a small fee.
Bay Park Towers is located just two blocks from downtown
East Tawas, where residents can access a variety of amenities including a
market, restaurants, theaters, shopping, dry cleaners, a pharmacy, and a flower
shop. The area also hosts numerous festivals and community events throughout
the year. Tawas Bay is located directly across the street, offering access to
the dock for viewing or fishing, as well as a beach and playground.
Both buildings calculate rent based on income. Utilities
including electricity, heat, water, sewer, and trash removal are included in
the rent. Residents are responsible for optional services such as cable
television and telephone if they choose to have these utilities.
Both buildings are secured with intercom systems, allowing
entry only when authorized by residents. Bay Park Towers is a smoke-free
community.
